Our co-founder Matyas Zsoldos took part in a panel discussion at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, organised by BRAID UK, exploring AI, copyright, and the future of writing.
The panel brought together voices from across research, creative practice, and industry:
- Ewa Luger — BRAID co-director
- Heather Parry — Author
- Paula Westenberger — BRAID fellow
- Matyas Zsoldos — Garandor co-founder
The discussion covered fair use and consent, property rights (both human and moral), the tension between creativity and exploitation, regulation and recourse mechanisms, and the complexity policymakers face when dealing with different AI use cases.
A key takeaway from the session: the public is ready for nuance but want to see just outcomes for creatives, society and culture. For policymakers, understanding the complexity of different use cases is essential to minimising harms and achieving better outcomes for creators and society.
